We've been busy this afternoon, playing in the snow, and making a delicious bowl of snow cream. When I was growing up, we were lucky if we got one day of snow per year! So, when the snow began to fall, we took advantage of it! We always had the best time, sliding down the neighborhood hills on a large cookie sheet. Who needs a sleigh when you have a huge commercial cookie sheet to sit on? One of our favorite things about having a snow day was enjoying the snow cream our mother would make for us. Snow cream is delicious, super easy to make with your children, and a simple way to teach our children the importance of connecting with mother earth. So have fun and try out this simple recipe! Just bare with me, as I rarely measure!
Here are the ingredients you will need:
- fresh, clean snow
- vanilla extract
Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract to 3-4 cups of snow and mix until blended.
Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk, more or less depending on how creamy you want it. Then, add 1/2 to 1 tbsp of sugar, more or less depending on how sweet you want your snow cream.
Mix together and serve! Enjoy and don't forget to stay warm :)
